Holiday Mode

Since today is a holiday, I had the pleasure of waking up late. We had brunch around 1oam. I didn’t prepared breakfast, we just had the left over pancit canton, mom cooked last night.

After our late breakfast, Hubz went back at his work place to fix my laptop that has hardware problem since Sunday. I am about to miss my baby but then Hubz was really nice and loving enough for letting me use his laptop. I bloghop, surf and changed my blogger template. As I am figuring out how to make that strawberry header to fit (Help!!!!), I then realize, it's already 1pm, what!!!! Poor hubz, he's eating late meals lately. So I hurriedly cook for our very late lunch.

Hubz and I agreed to have chicken adobo.

I almost jump for joy after I tasted it because I cooked a perfect adobo, which was not too much on the vinegar nor not too much on the soy sauce. I many times cooked this dish but failed to balance the saltiness and sourness. But this time, I got it. We had it too for dinner, I just add hard boiled eggs and to make it hotter I put chillies. Perfect!!!!...

By the way, tomorrow is another non-working day, Quezon City day, Halleluah!!! Hope everyone is having a grand time :)

Weekend Rambling

Hahaha...I did a lot of tags today. Those were overdue tags that I promised to do. I have few more left. I'll be doing them these coming days. So watch out for it :)

Now, let me update you a bit about my colorful life (as if). Aside from the glorious long weekend that many of us will enjoy, I am excited to bake more yummy goodies. Hubz bought an oven. He knew I've longing to have this. Though we have a microwave with bake function, I much prefer a bigger oven. This means, more more cupcakes and cheesecakes recipe to post. :)

While half my heart rejoices...half of it was not. My BFF at work bid her goodbye yesterday. I've cried bucket when I heard the news the other week. But I need to be mature to face this situation. Thinking of the great opportunity awaits her made me realize that I am not losing her. She will always be there. So last night, the team had a little drinking session party, hahaha. Just have a few shots of tequila, singing once in a while and some good laughs made us all happy. The husband and I left much earlier because he was sleepy na and on our way home, I sent a text message to her saying

It's not goodbye yet, it's see you later...

As I pressed the send button, tears just rolled over. My heart cried in sadness, in silence. After working with her for 5 years, I will surely miss her. So while she is her at Pinas, visiting her will lessen the missing her part

Okay...enough of my doldrums...Lets all enjoy the weekend :) See yah later!

Tag: A good wife in the 1930's

Tagged by Wits, Thanks for this Ms. J and oh Sheng tagged me with this too.. Thank you girls...
You Would Make an Okay 1930's Wife
You have some of the attributes of an ideal 1930's wife... but you probably didn't intend it to be that way. You don't buy into retro gender roles, though you do embrace your femininity at times.
A 1930's man may find you passable, but you probably wouldn't want anything to do with him.

Haha...you think I am like that...husband let them know, hahaha.

Hot Shoes!

I badly need to look for good work-out shoes. My last pair bid its goodbye the other day. So I was not able to go the gym this afternoon. Bummer! Went to the mall to look for quality but of a fair price but I was not that lucky to find any. It is so expensive.

So I did some canvassing online, hoping that I could find any great pair. Now a day, it is easier to shop online. So I surf the net for good finds. Upon surfing, I found a good site for my shoe shopping, the SHOEBACCA. Their shoe store online is quite easy to navigate and very customer friendly. They also have a wide variety of brand, style that caters everything you could ask for.

One more thing good about their site, is that the shoes they have are of good quality and the prices are so affordable. Shoebacca bridge the gap between classy and inexpensive.

Oh dear,this is fun, browsing their site, I found many cheap shoes. This discounted adidas shoes will surely fit me. Check their site, who knows, you might find for one.

Sunday Lunch-FIsh Fillet and Potato Salad

I cooked sweet and sour fish fillet for today's lunch. My sister-in-law and his husband were here for lunch so this practical dish made our lunch satisying. :)

So to do this, you'll need:

1 kilo fish fillet (any white meat fish will do)
A cup of pineapple chunk (set aside the syrup)
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup vinegar
1-2 tbsp tomato sauce
cornstarch dissolve in water
red bell pepper cut in strips
salt and pepper
After having the stuffs you need, you'll just
1. Cut the fish fillet in serving pieces. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Your choice, you can fry or grill the fillet. I grilled mine. Place in a serving plate and set aside
2. In low heat, dissolve the sugar in pinepple. Pour the vinegar and let it simmer. Add the tomato sauce.
3. Add the dissolve cornstarch. Continuously mix it until it thickens. Add the pineapple and bell pepper. Simmer for a while.
4. Pour over the cooked fish fillet.

Serve and enjoy :).

Then I made potato salad.

You just need :
4 lbs baby potato (boiled & peeled)
cup of mayo
1 tbsp of mustard
4 hard boiled eggs chopped
1/4 cup Pickles-chopped
lettuce cut in small pieces
sugar
salt & pepper to taste
1. This is easy, just mix the mayo & mustard.
2. Add sugar, salt and pepper according to your taste .
3. Then throw in the lettuce and eggs.
4.When everything is mix, pour the dressing over the potato.
5. Sprinkle with chopped bacon or with chopped celery.
So that how it's easy to prepare.
Hubz says it taste good.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We had a wonderful lunch and a good conversation over a cup of coffee. Though I only ate the salad, I can't hardly chew, my braces are newly adjusted. They said the food taste great and got a thumbs up from hubz and the in-laws...yehey!!!! So how was your weekend
Love for cooking
I came from a family who loves to cook. My mom owned a small food business before, and my uncle worked as a cook. As I grew up, I fell in love with cooking. Now that I am married, I wanted to have a bigger kitchen filled with the finest cooking tools and utilities. I searched the web and found this amazing site that offers everything I need for cooking. They have a wide array of cookwares and kitchen gadgets to name some of the products they have.
They also have great items for dining. I remember when we celebrated my grandma’s 82nd birthday, relatives not only appreciated our cooking but also the flatwares we have. I saw one nice flatware online that will definitely add pizzaz in our next party. I wanted to have that 45-piece flatware set asap. Guess got to include this in my Christmas wishtlist
Have a great weekend to all!
