Lomi Recipe


Lomi or Pancit Lomi is a Chinese-Filipino noodle dish made with a thick variety of fresh egg noodles of about  about 1/4 inch in diameter , sautéed with small pieces of pork or chicken meat, liver and select vegetables, added with tasty broth and then thickened  beaten eggs. The most popular among these variations would probably be the Batangas Lomi. There are as many styles of cooking lomi as there are eateries, panciterias or restaurants offering the dish. They served several toppings are added prior to serving such as chicharon (crispy pork skin) and hard boiled egg. 





let me share, this easy recipe that I used during the rainy days we had a few weeks ago...

You will need;

1/4 kilo egg noodles (lomi) - boiled and rinse (refer to instruction)
1/2 cup pork (sliced into strips) 
1/4 kilo chicken meat cooked and cut into strip
1 small carrots, peeled and julienned
1/4 lb cooked Kikiam (quekiam), sliced
6 to 8 pieces cooked squid balls
1/4 lb pork liver, sliced
1 pc chili pepper 
1 large onion, chopped 
3-4 cloves garlic, crushed 
2 pcs hot chili peppers
1 small bok choy  hopped
6 cups chicken or meat broth 
2 tbsp. cooking oil
1 tbsp. cornstarch dissolved in water (slurry)
2 raw eggs 
salt and pepper  to taste
1 hard boiled eggs

Then what you have to do;

  1. Heat a cooking pot then drizzle with cooking oil.
  2. When the oil is hot enough, sauté the onions and garlic.
  3. Put in the sliced pork and cook until the color turns medium brown.
  4. Add the chicken meat
  5. Throw-in the  liver then cook for 2 minutes.
  6. Add fish sauce and soy sauce then stir.
  7. Pour-in the broth and let boil. Simmer until the pork strips are tender (about 20 to 30 minutes)
  8. Put-in the cooked meatballs and kikiam then simmer for 3 minutes.
  9. Add-in the ground black pepper and miki noodles then cook for 5 to 6 minutes.
  10. Add the vegetables - carrots and bokchoy
  11. Stir-in slurry and stir well. Cook until the sauce thickens.
  12. Turn-off the heat then pour-in the beaten egg. Stir constantly until the egg is well incorporated.
  13. Transfer to a serving bowl and top with chicharon and sliced boiled egg. Garnish with onion leeks.
  14. Serve hot. Share and enjoy!

Eggplant and Tofu in Spicy Oyster sauce



I found this meatless recipe on a magazine.The first time I tried this recipe, it became my favorite. This is also my favorite packed lunch for work and my officemates loves it too. 
Now let me share this 10 minute recipe. If you love tofu, I am so sure you will like this recipe too. :-)

You will need;


4 pcs eggplant cut 1" long then cut in half
300 grams firm tofu cut in cubes(I used masoya Japanese firm tofu)
half cup oyster sauce
1 tbs sugar
liquid seasoning
1/2 cup water
Chopped chillies (I used 2)
oil for frying (I used olive oil)


Then what you will do;
  • Fry the eggplant then place in a paper towel to remove excess oil and set aside.
  • On the same pan, place the oyster sauce, liquid seasoning, sugar and water. Simmer for a minute.
  • Throw in the cubed tofu. Simmer until the tofu until it'll soak up the flavors. If you think, the sauce is running dry, do add more so as not to burn the sauce. 
  • Keep simmering until the sauce thickens. Add the fried eggplants. Mix and turn of heat.
Serve hot.

Adobong Pork and Sitao


Use you favorite adobo recipe then once its cook, lower the heat and thrown - in the string beans (or kangkong) simmer for a minutes. Turn off the heat and slightly cover the pan.

I so love this recipe. Theres the yummy taste of pork and the healthy goodness of the vegetable.  tara kain na!

Gising gising


I love spicy food and this is one of my favorite vegetable dish next to laing. Here is my recipe for gising gising.



You will need;

2 Tbsp. Cooking Oil

3 cloves of Garlic, chopped

1 medium onion, chopped

4 cups chopped Baguio beans

1/4 kilo lean ground pork

1 Tbsp. Fish Sauce
 
1 pack of Knorr gata mix

2 fresh chili peppers, minced
salt and pepper to taste

Then you have to;


Heat pan then saute onion and garlic using as little cooking oil as possible. Add ground pork and saute some more. Once the ground pork is already cooked, remove excess cooking oil . Throw in the baguio beans and add little water bring to a simmer.
In a bowl, add the coconut mix, salt, and pepper. Mix well before adding to the pan.

Add the chili pepper . Season with fish sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes. Until sauce thickens.

Serve with plain rice.

Easy lang di ba. :)

Caramelized Potatoes

I first tasted this side dish in a korean resto. I fell inlove with this dish on my first bite. It taste perfectly good. So one weekend since I got a bit bored doing nothing here at home, I decided to make my own caramelized potatoes.
To do this, you will need;

1 kg marble potatoes, cooked and peeled
1/2 cup granulated sugar
8 tablespoons (1 stick) melted unsalted butter
salt to taste
Parsley


Then you have to;

Melt sugar in a heavy skillet over low heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sugar turns light brown. Stir in melted butter. Add one layer of potatoes to pan; shake skillet to roll potatoes and coat all sides with caramel. Move potatoes to a heated platter and repeat procedure until all potatoes are coated. Sprinkle with salt. Garnish with parsley.

Serve and enjoy!!!

If you love kimchi, you will surely love this too. Had this as a appetizer for dinner with friend Ibyang at BBQ city last Monday. Yumm yumm! Its my favorite now! Happy Food Friday everyone!

Pritong Talong and Bagoong

If you'll have this on you table make sure you'll have enough rice. Pair it with fried fish, seafood, meat or eat it as alone as a viand, I'm sure, a cup of rice wont be enough! :) Enjoy the day everyone!

Food Friday: Tofu and Cabbage in Oyster sauce


I'm sharing this veggie that I love. This is an easy recipe. If you love eating tofu you should try this. Promise you will love it. :)
You need;
One small cabbage, chopped
500g Tofu cut into 1" cube and fried
thumb size ginger, cut into strip
1 onion quartered
2 clove garlic chopped
half cup beef broth
osyter sauce
2 tbsp cornstarch dissolved in 1/4 cup water.
To do this dish simply;
heat work with 2 tbsp oil. Saute onion then garlic. Add and stir fry the chopped cabbage. Throw in the tofu. Cook for a minute. Then add the beef broth. Simmer simmer simmer. Add 2 tbsp osyter sauce. Then, mix the cornstarch dissolved in water. Wait until sauce thicken. Season with salt and pepper.
Drizzle some oyster sauce before serving.
Voila and easy healthy dish. :)

Ginisang Pechay

Ginisang pechay is one of my favorite comfort food. A very easy vegtable dish to make and is very nutrious too.
Simply saute onions then garlic in hot oil. Add ground meat (pork or beef). Simmer until the meat are cook. Skim off scum that may aggregates on top.
Add the chopped pechay stalks. Then mix in the chopped leaves. Drizzle fish sauce and pepper to taste.
Best eaten with fried fish and rice but sometimes, I eat it alone (favorite eh).

Fresh salad

Some grapes, sliced cucumbers, corn kernels, lettuce and slightly browned tofu, toss them all together. Drizzle some honey and mustard dressing, then you'll get this light yummy salad. :)

I am gaining weight so this would be my diet for a while (for day, I guess....lolz) Happy eating everyone!

Beef Brocolli


This dish is a favorite whenever we dine at a chinese restaurant. So the other week I decided to try cooking beef brocolli. It was my first time to make this.
What you'll need;
400 grams Beef sirloin strips, cut in strips
1/4 cup of soy sauce

1 onion, sliced thinly
crushed garlic


small ginger, cut into strips


2 small or 1 big, head of broccoli

1 tbsp of cornstarch

salt and pepper
1-1/2 tbsp. of oyster sauce
3/4 c. of beef broth (or 1 beef cube dissolved in water)
Then what you'll do;
In a bowl marinate the beef strips in soysauce and pepper set aside.
Mix together the broth with the remaing soy sauce, pinch of salt, pepper and cornstarch. Set aside.
Heat a wok or skillet. When hot, pour in the cooking oil. Over very high heat, fry the beef strips until brown. Set aside.
In a separate wok or skillet, saute onions then garlic. Add the ginger. Add in the broccoli and stir fry for about half a minute. Season with salt,pepper and a some soysauce. After a minute add the broth with cornstarch Mix until the sauce thickens. When serving you could drizzle some oyster sauce for added flavor. :)
Serve at once. Easy right! :)

Veggie Naman

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Stir-fry kangkong with garlic. A yummy and a healthy dish I learned from the net. Nagsawa na ko sa adobong kangkong so I tried this recipe this evening. I simplified it a bit for a much easier preparation D What I did here… 1. Wash, trim and dry kangkong. 2. In a wok or skillet, heat sesame oil over medium-high heat. 3. Add chopped garlic and set aside. Then slide the chopped onion in the same pan. 4. Stir-fry for a minute or so until the onion begins to turn translucent. 5. Add the kangkong, water and soy sauce. 6. Continue to stir-fry just until the kangkong wilts, about another minute. 7. Place the kangkong in a plate and garnish with the chopped garlic pramis masarap D
