College favorite

Do you have a favorite song you shared with friends in school?

Well I do have. This one song I really love from the 90's. It's so hip. Whenever I hear this song, it reminds me of my college days, my college friends (mostly living outside the country). We love singing this before. A college friend who was a lead vocalist sang this in a party we had in the university. Gee I am missing them! :(

You're hearing the song... Hey by Fatima Rainey. Just in case you want to stop the song just click the pause button as it will play non stop. :)

Oatmeal Cookies

Aside from my husband, my father love my baked goodies particularly the cookies that I prepared the other week though he fancied a less sweet treat. So I decided to make a healthier snack. This week I baked oatmeal cookies.

The original recipe calls for a cup of sugar, I only used 1/2 cup and add 1/4 cup of maple syrup. The result was just fantastic.

Here's the recipe just in case you want to try it;

You will need:

1 cup flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 large egg

1/4 cup maple syrup

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups rolled oats (not instant)

1/2 cup raisins (optional)

then

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees

2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the butter sugar until creamy. Add the vanilla, egg and maple syrup. Mix well

4. Stir in the dry ingredients, then the oats and raisins.

5. Drop the batter by rounded teaspoon or with a cookie scoop.

6. Bake the cookies for 10 to 12 minutes. Cookies won't look ready at 10 minutes but take out and let sit for 5 minutes in order to be chewy.

Storage: Once cool, store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature.

I tasted the dough. It was really yummy. How could I resist it!

Scoop them like ice cream..yeah baby!!!

When I am baking I make sure that oven heats up to its asked temperature, so there, the oven thermometer comes in very handy!

After 12 Minutes, here are the yummy oatmeal cookies. It was chewy and not that sweet.

Have a bite!

I got a thumbs up from my father after his first bite :)

Have a happy weekend!

On Health

One day at work when I was at the pantry and filling my glass with lemonade an officemate asked me if that brand I am taking is safe. Of course I said. read the label hahaha!

People went nuts with the news about the imported milk containing melamine. I really can't blame them, I do too am careful in picking the food products I bought at the supermarket. It would be of great help to read the label first to know where it came from and the expiry date. In my case, I also read the calories I get from that product, I am a calorie freak hahaha!!!!

Without that foreign country exporting their products, our local milk producers will have more opportunities though I must admit, some of the well know products' prices are way expensive compared with other imported brands!

Okay I am kinda sleepy now, I'll hit the sack!

Everyone stay healthy and don't forget to drink your malamine free milk from a good label :)

A cool game!

As a kid, there were a lots of memories to rekindle. There were times were the siblings and I just have fun and play all day. One of our favorite things we do was playing bingo in our backyard. It was a sure fun game and it was our simple way of bonding because our parents and other relatives join too.

One day, I really don’t know what hits me; I just decided to googled bingo and found out that Disney has recently release ScreenLife Game Disney Bingo DVD game. This Disney Bingo DVD Game offers an edgy twist on our old favorite Bingo games. Disney DVD Bingo allows kids be familiarized with numbers, colors, and matching skills with their favorite Disney characters and movie clips. Match the numbers on the board to the ones given by the on-screen caller.

This game seems to be fun. You can play with your kids too. It’s a nice and cool way of bonding with relatives and friends as well. I have a five year old nephew and he loves playing games when I showed this to him online, he hurriedly asked her mom to get this game which can be bought from Amazon.com and Drugstore.com Do check it out I am sure it will be selling like pancakes!

So what are you waiting for?

I also did vanilla buttercream frosting for the swirl and add a cherrie.
